The team at LeanData, the revenue orchestration platform that helps their customers turn buyer signals into buying decisions, had experience working with data.
Before they migrated to Mozart’s platform, they were using Matillion and Snowflake to manage their data projects. But after facing challenges with that data stack they started exploring other options. They chose Mozart’s modern data platform to consolidate their tools in one place, automate reporting, encourage collaboration, and more.
LeanData automated their reporting to save time on analytics
The data analytics team knew they wanted to share data with more members of the LeanData team, including those who wouldn’t be directly working with raw data. Mozart’s solution allowed them to clean and organize data for analysis and push it to tools other teams are more comfortable with, like Tableau and Google Sheets.
"There's a huge number of people that benefit from Mozart daily, but they're not necessarily in the tool. We have a weekly report that goes out to leadership that's built through Tableau, and that report is ultimately powered by Mozart data. So you know, the transforms run every day and then Tableau is repopulated and those reports are emailed out to whoever needs to see them."

Manager of Data Analytics

By automating this process of moving data to Tableau, executives and other business stakeholders at LeanData have access to accurate, mission-critical data when they need it, without requiring a substantial time commitment from the data analytics team. Tableau also allows less technical users to visualize data and edit dashboards without additional assistance.
The data analytics team also helps LeanData’s professional services team save time at the end of reporting periods. Before onboarding Mozart Data, professional services would ask for a query to help them reconcile the time spent on services, but now that information is automatically queried and sent to a Google Sheet each day. When an individual team member in professional services needs that information, they no longer need to make a request. “It really reduces friction in terms of business processes and performing reconciliation,” said Tran.
Monitoring sales pipeline health
LeanData wanted to assess its sales pipelines more effectively — without requiring too much from its data analytics team.
"I would say that in any tech sales-focused organization, one of the things that you're trying to monitor is the health of your pipeline. And so Mozart was definitely instrumental in helping us kind of solve this issue by ultimately helping us build a mechanism for opportunity scoring."

With opportunity scoring, Tran and his team can help their Sales managers understand the health of their pipelines and take data-informed actions. They combine data from Salesforce and Ebsta and perform aggregates on a daily basis, looking for how long opportunities remain in specific stages of their sales pipeline.
Those opportunities are sorted by specific segments, such as middle market, and given a score of one to five. After scoring, Tran and his team use Hightouch, a Mozart partner, to send this data back to Salesforce. There the sales managers can quickly view which deals in the pipeline are in danger of closing lost or should be close to closing won, so they can focus their efforts on the most urgent opportunities.
Mozart’s features encourage collaboration
Tran’s team often wants to collaborate and experiment with their data work, so they leverage Mozart’s tagging and transform save features to save time and safeguard their work. This helps the team remain nimble and responsive to data.
“It’s really easy for us to collaborate on queries together. I can write something or an analyst on my team can write something, and we can save it as a transform and then pass it on to the next person who’s going to work with it,” explained Tran. “The fact that the queries are saved over time makes it so everyone has a lot of freedom to make adjustments to the transforms as they see fit because we can always revert back to the previous state if needed.”
The team also uses tags and notes to track the purpose of more ad hoc queries that won’t necessarily be used every day, so if someone needs to catch up in the future they have access to the needed context, without requiring anyone else’s time and help.
Administrative elements save LeanData time to focus on critical work
There are administrative elements to managing Fivetran or your own Snowflake instance, but Mozart Data provides that support as a core part of the modern data platform offering, saving LeanData time on tasks like provisioning new team members with access to data.
"I can spend more of my time building out analytics or like writing a query or getting business requirements rather than administrating."

Mozart’s managed service not only saves LeanData time, but also on spend. Aside from passing on bulk discounts from Fivetran and Snowflake, Mozart helps LeanData use the platform more efficiently.
“They’re trying to help us derive the most value from the product without necessarily trying to make us pay more for it,” said Tran. In some instances Mozart has helped LeanData pull data into their Snowflake warehouse without using a Fivetran connector, which would increase their costs.
